Ongoing
In this ongoing series taken in South Africa over several years, I have explored the changing (or unchanging) social relations of a country in transition. In some ways, it provides a pessimistic view of South Africa - the microcosm of society featured in these photographs seems not so different from that which might have existed under the apartheid system. And yet much has changed, just not always in the most obvious of ways. I have tried to capture a combination of familarity
and strangeness, comfort and unease: the parallel lives of
a family at leisure and people at work. And a not-always antagonistic relation between the two.
