He was his own person and as we thought a little eccentric! He lived a good and frugal life as a magistrate, but had a passion for divining! I can still remember him sitting in the back seat of the car, of a journey, with his rod in hand - suddenly the rod would dive downwards and he would announce some mineral at that poimt in the depth of the earth! His brothers and sisters teased him mercilessly! He was good company and always had an opinion from a different point of view!
